Deposits, advances and refunds

How RoomHive keeps held money apart from income, and how refunds and final bills work.

Money received is either income or money held for the tenant, and RoomHive keeps the two apart.

Income and held money

Rent and other charges count as your income. Security deposits, advances and unapplied credit are held for the tenant.

Refunds

Refunds and amounts you keep come out of the deposit or advance first, then credit. You can refund up to everything held for the tenant.

Final bill

At check-out, unpaid charges can be paid from the deposit or advance. The invoice shows this as a clear "Less: adjusted from security deposit / advance" line. See Check-in and check-out.
